So, I don't want people to get the idea that this blog is going to be a constant rant-fest, but I have something on my mind that I need to let loose on. I attend grad school at a school that considers itself highly moral and consequently places high expectations on its students. I try to govern my life the best that I can. That doesn't mean that I'm perfect, but I try. I recently found out that a student that is ranked higher than I am in our class "dopes" to improve studying. With the incredible ease of getting an ADD/ADHD diagnosis, this student's spouse went into a doctor, got tested and diagnosed, and subsequently gave the prescription drugs to my fellow classmate so that my classmate could study more effectively. These drugs allegedly provide "crazy" people with sufficient drugs to calm them down so that they can focus. They provide "non-crazies" with an increased ability to focus in their studies. To put it bluntly, I'm furious at the thought that someone attending a school with the name-recognition that ours has, and the reputation of high-caliber, moral individuals that our school produces, would deliberately cheat like this. I have a very hard time believing that someone that has made it all the way to grad school can't rationally determine that doping like this is just as bad, if not worse than athletes doping in professional sports. Ridiculous.
